Episode 4: I need to make a decision

This week and next week, we are working on Module 2 of this course, which focuses on data and database management systems. We’re learning fundamental database concepts such as primary key, foreign key, and data types, as well as the structure of relational database management systems like MySQL. We’re also comparing databases with spreadsheets like Excel to understand their similarities and differences.

More importantly, we’re continuing to apply what we learn through hands-on practice using the SQL environment provided in the XAMPP framework we downloaded. This includes creating tables and performing basic operations like CREATE, INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE, DELETE, and JOIN. For now, these tasks are still quite manageable, and I’ve found that I really enjoy the practical side of things.

Last week’s assignment involved creating a use case diagram, a class diagram, and a book state transition diagram based on a specific library scenario. I received a score of 98, along with the professor ’s comment: “Great job!” I was really encouraged by that and hope to keep up the good work.

Although I struggled a bit with the module 1 quiz and wasn’t very confident at the time, I ended up scoring 91, which isn’t bad. As for math, there’s nothing much to say—I just hope to score 100 every time.

There’s also been new progress with Plan B this week. However, just like my current program, it also requires prerequisite courses. That means additional costs and, unfortunately, the class schedule conflicts with the one I’m taking now. This naturally puts a lot of pressure on me in terms of both time and money.

At this point, I’m not ready to give up on the course I’m currently taking—I want to see it through to the end. But this means I need to make a decision: Should I choose just one path, or try to do both at the same time ? I need to make up my mind by next week at the latest.
